My Opinion on "X-Men First Class"

I really did not like this movie at all.  There are 3 big issues I have with this movie.  *Spoilers Ahead*

1.  Emma Frost's age - if we go by "Wolverine: Origins then she was younger than the January Jones Emma Frost, but this film took place before after this movie..... also Professor X is older than he is in this movie.  I'm assuming that this means that "Origins" is no longer a part the continuity.  If that is the case then I will retract this statement and be fine with it.

2.  These are not the real "First Class" - The original X-Men were Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, Angel, and also Marvel Girl joined at the end of the first issue.  If this is a prequel then all of these characters should have been able to be here as long as you believe that "Origins" has been taken out of the continuity.  Don't get me wrong I do enjoy these characters for the most part especially Havok and Darwin but Mystique was never Charles Xavier's adopted sister and she was not in the X-men till much later in the series.

In all truth I actually liked this film and can easily just ignore these problems but there is one thing I cannot deal with.

3.  WHY DID THEY KILL DARWIN! - Darwin's ability , for those who don't know, is called "reactive evolution."  What this means is his body changes to make sure he will survive anything.  So what happens when Shaw makes Darwin eat a ball of energy?  Does he shoot it out of his mouth like a laser?  Does he absorb the energy like Shaw can?  Does it shoot it out of his eyes like Cyclops?  Nope, he explodes.  Yep, he just dies.  What the hell!  This character had such potential and I really wanted to see him do something more that grow gills.  This is where the movie just lost me.

As far as movies go, it wasn't bad and in fact if it didn't have any ties to the other movies I would give it 4/5 stars.  But with it having the problems of continuity and the killing of the almost completely invincible and  completely awesome Darwin, I just cannot recommend this movie so I give it a 2/5.

So I know a lot of people will disagree with me but oh well, its my opinion and I stand by it.  Think what you want and if you liked the movie then good for you, but I didn't.
